Rho Rho 2023 Challenge | Rho Rho Chapter Of Sigma Chi

Dear Brothers,

We write with the urgency of a once in a lifetime opportunity!

We, collectively as Rho Rho alumni, have a chance to make a transformational change that positively impacts future generations of Rho Rho brothers. But, like anything else in life, this opportunity comes with a price (and now, significant time constraints).

This letter is a heads-up that in the next few

days and weeks, we will reach out to all alumni

with specifics and a request for a financial

contribution to make this opportunity become a

reality.

Rho Rho Alumnus Phil Morse (‘64) has generously

offered to buy the Sigma Chi house from the

University for $575,000 (time  constraint - in the

next few months). Before he signs papers to buy

the house, we need to show alumni financial

commitment to long-term sustainability. In other

words:

There is an URGENT NEED for Rho Rho alumni to have

skin in the game and provide complete confidence

that the house would be financially sustainable

for many years to come, as we grow the chapter.

Satisfying that condition requires cash and alumni

enthusiasm and involvement.  We certainly have the

alumni enthusiasm and involvement, but now we need

cash.

Thus, the Steering Committee members leading the

charge to purchase the house have diligently prepared pro forma budgets, drafted financial projections, created various committees, obtained renovation estimates, created a capital campaign website, contacted alumni, opened a house corporation bank account and worked with a Bangor law firm to create a new housing corporation.

The Steering Committee members are donating significant blocks of volunteer time to ensure there is enough support to accomplish our goal in the next few months.

We need your financial help and do not have

the luxury of time.

We are asking ALL Rho Rho alumni for a financial contribution to strengthen Phil’s commitment to buy the house - The Rho Rho 2023 Challenge:

One brother (Phil) contributes $575,000 to buy the house, while ALL other alumni brothers -  COLLECTIVELY - match Phil’s dollar amount of $575,000.

There are two phases of the Capital Campaign. First is the raising of $311k for estimated house renovation, required before occupancy by our young brothers. Second is raising another $264,000 or the balance of the $575,000 to match with Phil’s house purchase.

The alumni contribution “pot” will be used for start-up

expenses, legal and outside accounting fees, furniture

purchases, renovations, safety inspections, capital

improvements and operating expenses. Specifics to follow.

We are currently interviewing for a local CPA/Bookkeeper,

so all financial transactions will be audited and

transparent.

We ask that you please pause and reflect on how your

years as an active brother helped transform you from

a teenager into a man.  Our ability as alumni to

continue that tradition of transformational change

for future generations is now contingent on your

financial help or, frankly, the chapter might not

survive.

So reach out to your pledge brothers, contemporaries, or

any Rho Rho Sig you are able to contact freely, and with

whom you can share these exciting developments.

We need all hands on deck!

Brothers, you will hear from us again in the coming days and weeks. Your immediate help would be greatly appreciated!
